If somebody asked you to describe the Christian life in a few words, what would you say? If somebody asked you, “What does God want from us more than anything else?” What would you say? If you said moral devotion, if you said ethical behavior, if you said faithfulness to religious rituals you’d be wrong. Those can be important things…but not THE most important thing. The essence of the Christian life can be summed up in two words “love relationship”. God wants to have a love relationship with you.
God says what matters most in life is not your accomplishments, or your achievements, your title, or your wealth…but your faith that makes you love others. The Scripture says if you miss this you have missed the most important thing in life. Over the next six, weeks we are going to focus on what matters most to God…strengthening our faith that makes us love others. We are going to focus on three primary areas…three communities: 1. The community of our church. 2. The community of our small group. 3. The community of the world around us.
