Kingdom Builders is your invitation to go beyond ordinary generosity – it's how we can reach more people, transform more lives, and expand Northplace Church's impact for generations to come.
I grew up in a small farming community in the heart of the rural south. My father would often disappear for days or weeks at a time. Then one day, he left and never returned. For years as a child, I was the victim of sexual abuse at the hands of an extended family member. As a teenager, I became an alcoholic to escape the pain. Abuse, abandonment, and addiction defined my life. Then in my late teen years, I gave my life to Jesus. His love and healing transformed me. After meeting Jesus, God’s grace not only dealt with my sin, but also began to heal the hurts of my past. This experience with grace forged in me a passion for broken people. Northplace Church’s vision to “invite the uninvited” and pursue “forgotten people in forgotten places” is strategic and intentional, born out of the experience with grace in my personal pain.
One of the reasons music is so emotionally powerful is the use of two dynamics known as Crescendo and Diminuendo. One of the most powerful moments in a song is it’s crescendo. A crescendo in music is the slow, gradual build in volume and intensity that brings everything to a powerful climatic peak. When done well, the listener actually feels and experiences that moment with the artist.
Every crescendo is followed by a diminuendo. A diminuendo is where the volume and intensity decreases. There’s a sense of forward momentum that crescendos...and then the song begins to decline...that decline is the diminuendo. But this crescendo and diminuendo thing is not just a music thing. It’s also a life thing. The “crescendo mentality” is when you live as if the best days of your life are always in front of you.
An Easter Prayer of Surrender
Jesus, I’ve grown tired of the constant cycle of spiritual highs and lows. My heart aches for something solid and secure in a world of continued instability and uncertainty.Today, I’m convinced that only You can satisfy the ache of my heart. You alone can bring consistency to my up-and-down life.I need You, AND I want you. I need your forgiveness and grace becauseI’ve sinned and fallen short. I want your resurrection power to make my tomorrows different than my past and my present.Today, I put my faith in the Jesus of the empty tomb. I give you all of me. I fully surrender my life to your Lordship and ask you to transform my heart with the power of your love.I choose You, just as You have chosen me, and I know I will never be forsaken by fully trusting in you. Jesus, because of Your resurrection power, today will be the crescendo of my story.
Amen.
