CloseWhen he says…“Blessed are those who mourn”…it’s a whole other level of upside down…because this statement is not just counterintuitive; it’s contradictory. I mean, think about it for a moment. “Blessed are those who mourn.” It’s like he’s saying: Happy are the sad. Happy are the unhappy. Remember we said the word blessed means more than “happy”…it means to be deeply satisfied and fulfilled. How is it possible to be deeply satisfied and fulfilled in the middle of your grief? Jesus says its not only possible…but with those who follow him…its something that is to be expected.
