The Quest for Meaning

Every person is searching for meaning.

Every person is looking for something to tell them that their life is worth something. At the core of that desire is a Biblical truth: you matter, and your life has been designed to make a difference.

As counterintuitive as it feels, the Bible teaches that mattering in this life has very little to do with what we accumulate, achieve, or acquire. Mattering happens when a person knows they are valued and knows they have value to give.

This means that the answer to our search isn't found in what we store up for ourselves — it's discovered in what we give away.

Christmas: The Longing for Home - The Longing

The promise of Advent is this: If God can wrap His son in human flesh so He can live among us…because He wants to be in relationship with us that desperately…He wants to provide for us that passionately…that same passion drives Him to break into our family, our finances, our businesses, our health…whatever situation that burdens us. We serve a God who breaks in, a God who comes and who responds. The message of Advent is hope and anticipation. And together with Churches all over the world we lit the Hope candle of the Advent Wreath last weekend. This week the Love candle because there is no greater picture of love than a God who became an exile to reach exiles Each week, we will discuss a little more of the Advent and Christmas story, and each week our anticipation will build toward the climatic celebration of the birth of our savior on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It’s all about looking forward with hope, expectation, and anticipation of the coming of God into our world.
